  1. You should start by postponing your fight or delaying your own start date with the promoter ( if you've already registered with a promoter ) of the event you'll be fighting in first of all.

Secondly, seek qualified training in your area whether a school or a local independent MMA team.  There is so much work involved in training for a MMA fight that it would take a 800 page book to cover all the details.  MMA is usually a life style and it's practioner's have chosen Mixed Martial Arts ( MMA ) because usually they are looking for the upper hand in either the MMA sport or a few that I've ran into even practice MMA for defense on the streets ( suddle differences between sport and self-defense MMA ). Endurance is a "major factor" when looking to enter the sport of MMA in a cage or ring type arena.  There are so many things that need to be addressed for "new comers" that most end up dropping out of their training.  MMA training is like no other on the earth.  If you've ever had a "hod carrying" job times that by a thousand on your first day of training with a good MMA team or schoool.  MMA is constant work even on a amateur level.  Teams and schools will vary in their training, but not by much.  You can't just wake up one day and say, "Hey I think I'll be a MMA cage fighter".  Even biginners in MMA events have trained for at least 15 months or so and some fighters even longer than that before they choose to step into the cage.  I can guarantee that "excercise" is a "under statement" of what a normal MMA practitioner puts him self through on a daily basis.  Most MMA pratitioners have studied one art form or another all of their lives since they were young children and grew into their own greater understanding of Mixed Martial Arts.  And that's no lie. It's way more work than most may think it is and some.  Your training including weight training of all types, mat and endurance drills, study of technique, constant attention to detail, etc, etc, etc, etc. is everything.  "Lived, Breathed and Slept constantly"  Even Spike T.V.'s "The Unlimate Fighter" doesn't do a fighters training justice from the "pain" stand point let alone his own dedication ( building on strengths and tackling weaknesses ).

Every body wants to be what they see on T.V., but very few have the drive and determination to reach such a goal through very, very, very, very hard work I might add.

  2. start exercising, get in shape and train in martial arts for the next six years...then you can fight

  3. The first thing you need to do is work on your cardio. Without air you are nothing.  Then you need to start hitting a heavybag at least.

  4. Do NOT get into a mixed martial arts fight with no experience, especially if you do not exercise. Don't be stupid, you will get your *** absolutely handed to you, and you could get seriously hurt. It's your funeral if you do.

  5. backyard ...lol  ur best bet

  6. start by getting a reality check, then everythign else will fall into place

  7. Work on lifting weights and losing fat. You'll maybe gain weight depending on your workout schedule, that's because muscle weighs more than fat.

Look for a local gym to train in MMA or a combination of things like kickboxing, wrestling, or hopefully jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai.

It shouldn't be long until you see results and learn many techniques.

  8. Join a gym, start doing cardio and conditioning, and strength training...there is no need to bulk up. then find a school that teaches the primary style of martial arts you want to use...train for at least a year, you do not need to train for 6 years if you just want one fight.

  9. start practicing the proper way to fall, kick and sprawl

  10. dude you are going to get your *** handed to you on a platter.  You must be into hardcore training and receive pro instruction for more than a year.  And you could still get your *** kicked after all that.  Just look at the guys on tv.

  11. Back in Hawaii during the early 90's they used to have these fights in bars. No practice needed. no exercise either. A lot of people got hurt.

If you and your opponent are equally matched in strength, knowledge, and desire. The only thing that will get you ahead is stamina.  You need to exercise. No way around it!

  12. Buy the video game

  13. I have always been in shape, worked out, ran, things like that. I started training at a local mma dojo where they teach juijitsu, karate, kick boxing, things like that... All I can tell you is to be versed in these styles of fighting and be well conditioned.  Wouldnt be bad to lift weights and put a lil muscle on either.
