You could work with charitable organizations to help improve social conditions in developing nations or mentor youth who are drawn into terrorist organizations.  

You need to start at the root to solve the problem.  Simply killing terrorists isn't going to stop terrorism once and for all.  Why do people become terrorists?  They become terrorists because of hate, disillusionment, frustration, and poverty.  Simply killing terrorists actually can contribute to these factors.  For example they may be convinced to hate Americans because they see them invading their country and killing people; they can't tell whether the Americans are killing terrorists or their neighbors.  They may become disillusioned after seeing innocent relatives and friends accidentally killed.  They may become frustrated with all the killing and carnage, and want to do something.  They may be poor and terrorism could provide them with a way to feed their families.  Fight these things, and you will be fighting terrorism in a meaningful and effective way.

the best way to do this is to join the Army and go for 11b or infantry man . i can almost bet you that you will be fighting  for real in about 9-10 months after you join. just imagine 15 months of fun in the sun. thats plenty time to fight i've only been in a year and i'm on my way. but if your not a hands-on type of person the best thing to do is support your freedom fighters..

It must be noted that "terrorist" is not born but made.Oppression of the majority, deprivation, persecution and the like acts like space shuttle fuel for terrorists.

When will they attack? where will they attack? how will they attack? are questions no one could reply with confidence.

Fire could not be put out by fire! So also terrorism could not be won by force,

On the other hand.the problem has to be holistically viewed and human solution found.

The terrorist's  feeling of seclusion and  'no one cares for me ' attitude have to be got over,and rehabilitation efforts have to be undertaken.

Lastly the intelligence must be in a position to find out whether there are real terrorists or others do it under thier smoke screen.
