there are two main universities in Bologna: the university of Bologna, one of the best universities in Italy and the oldest in the western world (about 1000 year old); the DAMS, a university that specialises in art and entertainment, it teaches basic humanistic courses (i.e. philosophy, literature) with a specialisation in some artistic subject (i.e. painting, drama, film-making).
