  1. Go to run and then type msconfig, and go to the last tab, Startup, and you can view all of the processes that run at startup. It would be wise to copy/paste/search them into google before unchecking the box.

  2. Start > Run > msconfig

    Its under the startup tab

  3. You will want to run a small series of programs. These will tell you more than MSCONFIG can.

    1. CCleaner will do what MSCONFIG/STARTUP will do but it shows you hidden items aswell. http://downloads.comstar-computers.com/T...

    2. HiJackThis is a program that let's you see what registry keys are being started, what Internet Explorer services and things are running including some malicious software. It also shows you things that are trying to launch but are missing files. http://downloads.comstar-computers.com/A...

    3. Run MSCONFIG but rather than clicking on the STARTUP TAB, Click the SERVICES tab. Click HIDE MICROSOFT SERVICES. The list will show you the services other than windows, that are set to launch.
