  1. The foundations sold at the department stores are more expensive, but you would definitely get help in choosing the right shade. Be prepared that other products will be recommended to you. So, if you don't want any additional products, stay firm. So far, I'm satisfied with what has been recommended to me...

On the other hand, if you're going to the drug store, choose those which provides testers. You'll be able to test it and go out and see it in the sunlight. You'll have more freedom to test the products from here and not worrying about having to purchase it...

    Hope this helps.

  2. I know that some places, like Sephora, will do your makeup for free. Otherwise, you could always email or ask a makeup consultant at Macy's or any other dep't store about what color would look best on you.

Otherwise - you could just use the "Try Me's" tester foundations at your local drug or department stores, and see what looks best that way too.

  3. OK, first, it's not difficult to find the perfect foundation for your complexion.  You can do it a few ways.  One is to go to a department store, Macy's, Kohl's, anywhere with a beauty department; tell them exactly what you are looking for and they can help you find your perfect shade and whether you prefer powder, liquid, or even mineral.  Or you could go to these departments and try for yourself.  What you do is pick out the 3 that match your skin color the best.  Make sure your face is clean!  Use the applicators provided and dab a little of each foundation on your cheek close to your jaw line.  Blend one end of it in.  Whichever on you like the best is your perfect foundation.  It is a matter of preference.  Some people like a shade darker, some a shade lighter.  However, the one that you can see the least after blending is the perfect shade.  Rule of thumb is to go one shade lighter than you skin tone.  And whichever one blends the best with your skin tone is your best match.  And as for cost, it might be a little pricey, but if it's a good foundation it will be worth it.  I wouldn't recommend going to a Drug Store, not that their stuff isn't good.  Most make-up is made for whichever department store, so it will have ingredients that will help your skin in many ways that you won't be able to find anywhere else!

  4. youre not required to buy from department store booths. so go, ask them for their help. tell them your skin type and how much coverage you want/need. and even if youre satisfied and dont want to buy, tell them youre not going to buy right now (after theyve matched you etc lol). put a bit of the product theyve recommended...listen to all the advice they give you...and go to the drugstore and find a similar product/color.
