If your not an electrician don't even think about it , you may be alright this time or the next but if for any reason there's a fire your insurance company will deny payment even if it wasn't you work that did it .

I know sparkies charge like enraged bulls but they know what loading your switch will carry and if the circuit your talking about will take the load SAFELY

yes and don't forget if the fittings are metal they must ,repeat must be earthed. i assume feed is 1.5mm
