  1. gecitkale and ercan

  2. sorry but if you go to the ercan airport you won't be able to visit the southern cyprus (best part of cyprus) and greece...EVER

i would think twice before going there, sorry.

  3. Ercan International Airport is the main airport for Northern Cyprus, and very smart it is too! Compared with the cramped conditions of the two south Cyprus airports, Ercan is a joy to fly to. Any flight to Ercan will have to make a very brief stop-over at a Turkish airport, but this is just a case of sitting on the tarmac for 20 mins or so before flying on to North Cyprus. The great thing about Ercan is that you can land, collect your luggage and hire car, and be by the pool in your Kyrenia hotel in under 70 minutes. That's worth a lot in my book!

The best value flights from the UK to Ercan are with Pegasus Airlines, and they also depart from regional airports, much better than battling through Gatwick in my view. The other main airline is  CTA (Cyprus Turkish Airlines).

You can fly into south Cyprus and drive your hire car over the border, but while the flying time is shorter, the combination of queues at Larnaca or Paphos, the driving time plus the compulsory border stop to buy additional insurance invariably adds up to more time than flying to Ercan itself.

Have fun in North Cyprus - it is a wonderful place for a relaxing holiday thanks to a very favourable exchange rate with the Turkish lira!
