  1. Alright, first things first. Figure out what species it really is. There are only two main kinds, dwarfs and syrians. Syrians are all the ones that are larger than dwarfs. Syrians do not have different breeds, just different colours and fur types. But all syrians are syrians.

Next, if it is not a dwarf and is a syrian, is is NOT social! Dwarfs are the ONLY hamster that would tolerate socializing with other hamsters. Syrians will KILL other hamsters or animals that set foot on their turf. So because there are only two kinds of hamsters, and because only dwarfs can live together, no you cannot keep different breeds together.

And just in case, even if it is a dwarf, it would be a really bad idea to introduce it to another dwarf because it's a lot safer to only keep them together if they are siblings, and always knew eachother. Introducing a new hamster will take a lot of careful planning, and you just do not sound like it is something you are knowledgable enough about.

    So leave it alone!

  2. go to the store that ou bought her at it might help.....and im not to sure if you sure get your other hammie a play mate because hamsters are VERY teratatorial...sorry for my spelling it sucks hopefully i at least make sence message me if you want to talk about it more or for me to explain my crappy spelling haha some hamsters arint terratorial though it just depends on the hammie and take your hammie to the pet store you got it at and ask=) they SHOULD know and if they dont sorry but their dumb=) haha

  3. if you did not know dwarf is so fast and others are not really fast

  4. the age u cant tell i dont think and u can tell if there male by the huge bulk under the tail

  5. Hamsters are solo.  if you put another in there they will fight to the death.  they will not play.  Even in the wild hamsters live in the wiid and only come together for breeding purposes, and that also sometimes ends in death.

  6. If you don't even know the breed, you really shouldn't even have the hamster you have now. It's not hard- it's either Syrian, which is quite big, or Dwarf, which is very small and fast.

No, you can't put two different breeds together. You're best off just leaving the poor thing alone if you know nothing about it, otherwise it may suffer.

  7. It's a good idea not to. Dwarfs are a bit social, and can be kept in same s*x pairs or trios. However, this applies to litter mates or hamsters introduced at a very, very young age. Since your hamster is older and doesn't have a litter mate, it's best to leave her alone. It's not necessary for her to have a play mate if you spend time with her. If you try to pair her up with another hamster, you may end up with a bloody fight on your hands.

Also, you shouldn't mix breeds. It's just not a good idea. Unless you want one hamster dead, please don't. Just leave your hamster on her own and spend time with her. She'll be fine.

  8. I believe hamsters are solitary animals, like gerbils, they do not get on with one another, they would very likely fight and before long one would die.  Just make sure your hamster has enough space and a variety of activities available.  For a social pet, try mice, rats, rabbits or (best of all) guinea pigs.
