I want to get a better hard drive for my ps3? ?

Do I HAVE to replace my 40g one, or can I just add to it?

  1. It has to be replaced, there are no second slot in PS3. As for specifications - any 2,5" SATA 5400 rpm HDD will do the job. I suggest Western Digital or Seagate brands.


  2. It MUST be replaced, you can't have 2 hard drives at once in a PS3.

    The hard drive must be a 2.5" ( laptop size) SATA ( Serial ATA) Hard Drive, you can buy a 7200 Rpm one, but Sony recommends a 5400 Rpm Hard Drive to reduce the risk of overheating.

    There aren't any specific brands that you need to buy from, but Western Digital makes pretty good hard drives, not to mention Seagate, as that's the hard drive brand that comes with the PS3.
