Okay. So. I'm 12, and have 2 cats who are healthy and get along great with me. They are 10 years old; I've had them pretty much my whole life. They are my responsbility and I think I've done well.

but I want to get a ferret. My parents had one when they were first married. The ferret would stay in my room, in a cage, when not playing with me, so it couldn't get the cats and the cats couldn't get it.

My parents think it's too much of a responsibility, but I want a ferret SOOOOOOO badly and i think I'm ready for it. What do I say to them?

(PS- I don't do sports or a lot of stuff after school so I'd have time to play with it daily.)

  1. let me tell you from experience i just recently adopted 2 ferrets first off because having just one wont be good they need a playmate for when your not there they are some work to take care of i would look into it a little more but it think that they make great pets but you have to keep and eye on them at all times when they are out of the cage i think that if you will definitely play with them every day and take care of them you should get one but make sure to keep them away from your cats and also please don't get a baby they are too much and also there are allot of animals in need of a home you can adopt a young one and they probably be cheaper and come with everything

  2. Ultimately you can only tell them what you have just posted here.

Be honest and tell them that you think you have handled the responsibility of two cats well and you would like to take on a bit more responsibility. Offer to do some extra chores around the house to prove you are "more responsible" and ready to take on another pet.

Don't forget though...the biggest show of responsibility will be your attitude if they say no. If they don't let you have one, respect their decision as your parents :) Hope this helps!
