  1. well, with low priced horses now you can really get a decent horse without paying a lot

    equinehit.com

    dreamhorse.com

    euinenow.com

  2. There are almost always horses for sale or free in your local paper. Some of them are not wise choices because they are lame, or have some other medical or behavior issue. You may however, come across an older, gentle, quiet horse which would be perfect for her. Mostly desperate people put horse for sale in the paper. Horses you find there usually don't cost much. Good luck =)

  3. Dreamhorese.com is prob the one of the best websites i have been to and my aunt has bought mulitple horses from there! Good luck!!

  4. Right now, let your mom continue to take lessons. I know that you want to get her a horse, but horses are VERY expensive, and you said that finances are tough. That's not good. What happens if your horse gets sick and colics but you can't take care of him? Are you going to be able to pay board each month? Vet? Farrier? What about worming?

Horses are a big responsibility. And I hope you understand that. They require a lot of money. And you need money put away for emergencies. You need to be aware of that. If you can't financially support a horse, don't get one. Wait until everything is all sorted out ot get one.

  5. The best advice I can give you is wait until you guys get your finances in order. Horses are extremely expensive animals. You don't want to get in over your head by buying a horse. Just wait for a little while until your finances straightened out, then start looking for a horse.

  6. here are some good websites for horses:

    www.equinehits.com

    www.dreamhorse.com

    www.equine.com

Also, check your local newspaper. If your mom's finances are tight, though, this might not be the best time for a horse. Horses are very expensive to keep. I spend $300+ a month and that is cheap and with a healthly horse. If she is unable to afford that, perhaps you could get her some great riding gear or a nice saddle. Buying the horse is the cheap part, it is maintaining the welfare of the horse that is expensive. In addition to the monthly fees she will need tack, brushes, halters, etc. If there is hope of her finances becoming better I would hold off on the horse until then.

  7. Agree with shannonx here, it's not only the money to BUY the horse, before you do that look in to the expenses that come with the maintenance of the horse
