I am British born and have a Canadian high school diploma and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Alberta in Edmonton Canada. I am 21 years old. I want to practice law in the USA, and for that you need a US law degree. What is the most affordable and worthwhile option for me?

  1. NO MORE LAWYERS. PLEASE.

  2. well i'd suggest going to college.

    then law school

  3. It would be cheaper to go to a state school than a private school.

  4. Try going on line and search under law schools in us. that should help. and congratulations on receiving your B.A.good luck and god bless.

  5. Congratulation! My son just graduated, has a B.A. in political

    science too.

He thought about going to Law school for a while, now has changed his mind.

My answer to your question is simple: since you are not a legal

resident in U.S., public law school would cost you more than those of residents.

  6. The most affordable thing to do is to go to law school part-time while working full-time to help cover your expenses. Or you might consider going to a state funded university because they tend to be less expensive than private schools. Or a great option is to get a job at your school of choice and try to get accepted at that law school. This way you might be able to get tuition free or discounted as an employee.

  7. While you are not in a very difficult situation, you are in somewhat of a dilemma because as you may or may not know, a J.D. in the U.S. will cost around $35,000 per year regardless of it you go private or state.

Some of the cheapest and more affordable law schools in the U.S. are as follows:

    - NCCU ($12,800)

    - University of Alabama ($22,170)

    - FSU ($12,300)

    - UGA ($12,400) offers an LL.M. only.

    - Texas Tech ($14,920)

Those are some of the more affordable law schools in the United States. There are more about, but you just have to do some research for them.

  8. do some thinking and it might help

  9. Allright man I'm actually in a similar spot myself . I found this awesome website for law schools. http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandre...

You can customize your school results too and their ranked very well.

Anyways a few things to keep in mind ...

-Edmonton's economy is great at the moment so if i were you, id consider staying with your parents for a while longer, work full time, make money then decide. Practice/ take the LSAT during this time too.

    - Now as to where to take law in the states, consider that the school you will attend will have connections to the law firms of the area. So once you get your degree you may stay were you studied. Take a good look at what cities have good economies at the moment and where you would want to live

-Now if your looking for good and cheap you'll have to attend a public law school then stay in-state (get residency after a year), then your tuition will be cheaper.

Here's a list of the top public schools with good tuition rates

Alot of them are located in cities/regions with a developing economy such as those in the mid-atlantic, southeast, utah and texas.

    Hope this helps
