  1. Hi mtr_2109,

There is a good chance you don't have a choice. Most areas only allow one franchise. This is an archaic system that started years ago. Cities in order to get a cable company to invest in the structure required to build a system would guarantee an exclusive in the area. This system has led to high prices with poor service.

Post your city & state or check in your area. You may only have one choice of cable companies.

  2. If you have Time Warner then that's all there is.

There is currently in most areas no competition amongst the cable companies. If you have Time Warner then that's it.

    WHat do you consider expensive?

Maybe you can trim your bill down?

Get rid of the premium channels.

Call them up and say you will leave unless they can lower your price. Believe me, they will do what it takes to keep you as a customer, I do it all the time.

Just be diplomatic and you'll do fine.

  3. Cable franchises have certain geographic 'build areas' they operate within. Unless there are multiple operators offering service for your particular address, you'll prolly be very limited as far as provider choice.
