I want to get a new pair of feild boots...?

I want a new pair of feild boots for horse back riding but my calves are too skinny,, they are 11 in. in curcumference but the size to fit my shoe size and height is 13 in. at the smallest and i dont want to spent $1000 more than i need to to get custom made... what excersices can i do to strengthen my calf musscels?? i have done alot of toe raises but have not seen much improvement... thank you in advance

  1. If you've tried raises and stair step exersises, my next suggestion would be running or jogging to build up muscles. Stair Step exersises involve hanging your heels off the edge of a stair, and using your calves to lift up. (see link)

    I'd also suggest looking into brands of boots that come in a slim calf...I have the same problem as you, and the only field boots that fit are slim calves - Ariat is worth the money for a great fit.  If you find a pair that fits almost exactly the way you want, you could take them to a boot maker to see if they could tailor them to fit your calves better.
