  1. Gizmo I have played with numerous racquets 40 different names at last count and at least a dozen different manufacturers if not more over my career. Fischer makes a decent frame but I would recommend the Volkl DNX 10 Mid over any Fischer frame today. My doubles partner and I make a road trip to the Tennis Factory every 9 months to demo frames in their hitting lane. We narrow it down to our top 3 picks and usually play with those until we can find The One. Fortunately our tastes are pretty similar which makes buying frames in bulk easy.

I have a single handed Eastern topspin backhand, a Continental slice backhand, and an Eastern forehand. I found the frame a tad heavy at first but the arm and wrist got used to it over time and some specific muscle weight training. I play 4.5 USTA tennis down from a high 5.5 in University.  I found the Volkl was great for slice shots but the topspin backhand was off a bit.

The Head Liquimetal series are good frames. Not too heavy nicely balanced. Decent feel. I had the Head Liquidmetal 4 which you can pick up for like $60 now.

Wilson Kfactor Tour 90 is the current weapon of choice but requires skill to perform well. You will get used to it and keep the tension low in the range if you don't want to injure your arm, elbow or shoulder.

Demo those 3 and add one more to it to make 4. Perhaps the Prince the guy above me suggested. Go to www.tenniswarehouse.com they have a demo program where you just pay shipping and you get the frames for a week to demo

  2. It really all depends on what kind if player you are.

I have a continental forehand grip and an eastern one handed backhand grip, so I need a racquet that is light, so that I may transition fast between my strokes, and because of my larger swing area. I use a Prince 03 Hybrid Spectrum, and I love it.

If you can list your playing style, then some more suggestions can be made.
