for 50% of lenses. how much would regular plastic lens cost? I really don't want anything expensive the frames I found was like 90.00. I don't want to spend more than 150.00 if possible. I wish I could get contacts and then I could wear regular sunglasses but the optometrist said I have dry allergy eyes and won't give me any.

  1. Get a second opinion on the contact lenses first. Don't go to a cheap chain store, but spend a little money on a good contact lens evaluation. Patients can successfully wear contact lenses with dry eyes and allergies. You just need a doctor who is well experienced with contacts and is familiar with the appropriate eye drops on the market.

The office I worked for only charged about $150 for polarized plastic sunglass lenses. With the cost of the frame you're looking at I'd say you'll meet your budget. Don't give up on the contact lenses though. Unless you have a severe case of dry eye I don't see any reason why you shouldn't get another opinion. You will pay more for contact lenses than you will for sunglasses if that's the direction you want to go.

  2. I would suggest you shop around. Try some local opticals as opposed to lenscrafters. You may do better on cost and service. Their "sales" usually involve more cost than expected. Charge more and take 50% off, that's the sale.
