  1. A gerbil should make a good pet. Clean its cage once a week. They don't smell and are fun to watch and play with. Do some research first. Good luck!!

  2. I too vote rats. but on another note always look at the bedding I get this natural  bedding found at most pet stores..in a green package. mine is colorless but they come in a multitude of colors and help with the smell.

  3. Female rats are very clean animals ( the males tend to be on the stinky side) They make sweet, smart, lovable pets too. Just be sure to get the right kind of bedding (some rodents are allergic to certain kinds of shavings) and clean often and you shouldn't have a problem. Good Luck!

  4. Its anything female really.

It depends on the cage to, you can't keep rats in aquariums because its to small and no place to climb and because it will cause smell because there's not much air ventilation for it to escape.

If its in a wire cage then really it would be fine.

I'd choose female rats or female mice.

Personally I'd choose female rats, they are really friendly, more active them males and not as lazy.

Female mice are great to but you'd have to keep them in an aquarium because they are so small.

You have to be prepared for some smell though, clean it 2-3 times a week and have a well ventilated cage and it should be good.

Also get 2 of any rodent they are very social and would get very lonely without a friend, if you can't get 2 then I wouldn't get one just yet, its unfair to keep one alone for a long period of time.

  5. Eh, its not the smallest animal but guineas are amazing animals. They are so loving and its almost like having a cat or dog because you put in a lot of effort and it ALL pays off! Guineas don't smell at all if you clean their cage a lot. And you can cuddle with them and play with them. Unlike other rodents they will sit in your lap if you gently pet them and when they are happy they will do something called "popcorning" where they jump up in the air. They make the cutest little sounds and they are so sweet. But this WILL be a high-maintenance pet but you could go and get an easier one but you won't get the amount of love you get from a guinea pig! :)

I really think you should get one! :)

  6. get some female rats

  7. surprisingly, rats or female mice smell less than any other rodent I have heard of.

  8. I'm always going to recommend getting rats in this situation.  The females don't smell bad at all. (males have a stronger smell but still not bad).  If you clean every week like you said, I don't think you would have a problem at all.

Plus with rats you have the benefit of them being extremely intelligent and affectionate pets.  They learn to love you as a person, not as the large creature wo brings food.  (alot like a dog or cat would)

  9. I know this is really weird but hamster can be potty trained. Go to a pet store and find something called the pet toilet. You have to put them on it randomly every now and then but the beads have some weird smell that hamsters like going to the bathroom. It isn't expensive at all! I tried it. It worked. Helps with teh smell a ton too.

  10. get a gerbal.....similar to a mouse they live 4-5 year and you can hold them and they dont smell very good pets!

  11. if you think your hamsters stank, you'll probably find that most other rodents will "stink", also.  Even mice do smell.  I keep mine in a 10 gallon fish tank with a reptile cover for air.  If there are only 2 in there, the smell is OKAY (but there is a smell). DO NOT GET A RAT!!!!  THey tend to smell even more!!!!!!

You probably need to stay away from getting any more animals, though - maybe fish???

  12. Try a dwarf rabbit, I have two rabbits and they don't smell that much sometimes at all.
