  1. One really good option is to get an electric moped.   That's what I ride.  See the link below for lots of examples of EVs.

  2. Build your own, buy a cheep car that doesn't run good and convert it, it is a lot cheaper and you end up with a better car for less money.

these books can show you how.

  3. go get a solar car

  4. electric cars ARE NOT zero Emissions.  They burn coal.  Where do you think the electricity comes from?  You pollute around the power plant in someone elses back yard and not yours, so that makes you mean to them.  You drive, you should have to eat the pollution.

  5. go to CHINA

  6. try a GEM. really, that is the name.

Global Electric Motorcar is a subsidiary of chrysler. they make street legal(in most states) neighborhood electric vehicles(NEV).

25 mph, plug in electric vehicle. about 30 mile range per charge. mine costs me about 2 cents per mile to run. they are greener than any gasoline powered vehicle, and can give the hybrids a good run for the money. might even be greener than they are.

the CO2 does come out at the power plant, but at net, from fuel to motion, the only thing better is a bicycle or walking.

the E2 starts at just over $6,000 with no options. i put aftermarket doors on mine. they zip up when the weather is bad or can be completely removed if i want to.

    search Gem car on yahoo

  7. lease or car-share?

  8. Electric cars aren't zero emissions, the emission are just elsewhere. And the key word is sounds wonderful. Do you drive more the 50 miles in a day? If so electric isn't for you. Does it get really cold where you live? If so electric isn't for you. Do you drive a lot at night? If so electric isn't for you.

As much as I'd love to love electric there are too many limitations on them right now, charging time, range, etc.

So until they get up to say 100 mile range, with a heater at night in the rain, they will be a niche item.

  9. How is it green??   The energy must come from a power station. That will produce 40% more CO2 than just a regular gasoline engine. There is power lost in hauling those heave batteries around.

    Very Bad choice.
