I've had glasses for about 3 years and I want to get color contacts for a change. I need them with vision correction so do I just tell him I want color contacts with vision correction? Or something else?

And around how much would it cost for the contact to be colored with vision correction??

Also, what color contacts would look good on dark brown eyes?

I was thinking maybe honey, but I don't know.

  1. Well, it seems to me that you could just come out and tell your doctor all that. Ha-ha. Even the color suggestion....

    Good Luck.

  2. You say,"I've had glasses for about 3 years and I want to get color contacts for a change. (He/she will know that you need them with a correction)And around how much would it cost for the contact to be colored with vision correction??Also, what color contacts would look good on dark brown eyes? I was thinking maybe honey, but I don't know." I am sure that tafter hearing this the doctor will take it from there. They get these questions a lot. It is a really common subject..

  3. Yep - just tell him exactly as you wrote it - that you want color contacts with vision correction.  I'm sure your optometrist is very familiar with colored contacts both with vision correction or just for cosmetic purposes.

When I made an appointment with the eye doctor I told him I wanted to get colored contacts 'just for fun', but needed an eye exam and prescription to be able to purchase them.  Turns out I needed vision correction, so he ordered them that way.  While at his office, I tried on Freshlook Colorblends samples and chose Green (I have dark brown eyes too).  Later, I decided to change to their Pure Hazel color, as I felt they looked more natural for 'every day' wear.  I still use the Green for going out at night.

You can go to the Freshlook website at:

and 'try' them on their models so you can get an idea of what they look like.  I found the Honey too yellow and Halloween-ish, although they may look fine on you.  Best bet is to ask and see if your doctor has samples that you can try.
