Call your cable or telephone company.  They both sell internet service.  You'll need that and a computer with an ethernet card - that's all.  (Most computers built in the last 5 years or so have come with ethernet cards.)

WTF?  You are on the internet if you are posting here.  All you need is a connection to an ISP and they will handle the rest.
