I want to get into Mechanical Engineering for airplanes but I dont know what qualifications do you need?

I want to know do you have to be really good at math and science? Because i dont get how you will need really hard math and science for mechanical engineering. Also what are some good colleges to get into for mechanical engineering and what GPA's do they usually take?

Oregon State University has a really good engineering program that includes mechanical engineering.  Boeing Hires many engineers from this discipline as well as a few others that Oregon State offers.  University of Washington offers an Aeronautics/Astronautics Engineering degree that may be more what you want.  Oregon State will take anyone with a 3.0 GPA. I could not find what the minimum entry requirement for UW was.  Take as many math, physics, chemistry classes as you can to be prepared.

Yes you should be really good at maths.You need to practice and practice at maths--- that's the secret---why not go into aeronautical engineering if you are interested only in airplanes.

You have to take a lot of math classes in college.You have to take Calculus 1,2,and 3.It may be hard ,but if you have a lot of dedication and effort you will make it..

You have to be really good at both math and physics among many things. You will need to take 3 levels of calculus and differential equations to get you the math you need to do your other engineering courses. Virginia Tech is a wonderful school for engineering and they have great percentages as far as people finding a job after they graduate. Most schools require great SAT scores (esp. in Math) and a B or above average to get in. And of course its different with every school. If you like problem solving, math, and physics, Mechanical Engineering would be a good major for you.
