I want to get into iron chef locally?

I saw on tv a guy did an iron chef competition at his local Outback Steakhouse. I was wanting to get into a competition at any place, it doesn't have to be Outback, but the prize for winning was quite nice! It was a gift certificate for $1500 to use at any Outback, does anyone know of where I can look to get started to do an iron chef at any restaurant or any place. I have no preference as to where I want to go compete I just would like to do one, they look fun to do, and also they challenge people like me who like to cook! Any advice where I need to start looking, thanks to all that answer!
