I want to get into photography?

i would like to get into photography. I'm 13 years old. i like to take pictures of nature, animals, and sometimes sporting events. so some of my photos will be still shots some will not.

i would like to know what kind of camera would be best for me and anything important that you think a beginner should know? thanks a bunch!!!

Here is what I suggest:

Buy a mid-ranged camera model. This will allow you to get in-depth features, flexible options and faster specs. These cameras will run you between $250-$400

In a few years time you may notice you are lacking features, or you want to pursue photography more professionally, I would begin to look at an entry level SLR or more professional level SLR. (Note: These cameras will run you anywhere between $800-$10,000 hence why I'm suggesting this for a later date when funds may be more readily availible)

For you current situation, I would recommend either one of the following:

Do you have a camera? Do you have any photographic experience?

If you have no experience at all: Get the most inexpensive but good quality digital point-and-shoot camera (see reviews below). Take pictures of everything. Join a photographic community on the internet. Post your images for criticism. Have a tough skin and use the criticism to get better. Read lots of how-to books to learn the theory of photography.

At some point, your skills will move beyond the capabilities of your camera. That's when you should move up to a pro-sumer point and shoot or, better still, to a DSLR.

That's the informal way. The formal way is to take a photography class in your school. They will tell you what kind of camera you should get.
