I want to get involved in charitable orginazations where do I look?

Question

I live in a normal size town, 20,000 people probably and I feel like I'm not doing anything positive with my life. I have always had a strong desire to help people and want to get involved in something so I could help people but I dont' know where to look can anyone give me some clues?

This is also a wonderful ministry for getting the whole community involved!  No matter how big or small.  This ministry gives Christmas to kids all over the world who would NEVER have one otherwise.  By sending a few gifts in a shoebox you can send a child to school for the first time in his life!  You can give a child the first gift she has ever recieved!  Check out the link above and contact your local team to get started!

My best advice is to start out with something small,ask your local foodbanks or childrens charities if they need help,churches and libraries can usually steer you in the rite direction as well,also the local human aid or family independence agencies can give you a lead or two-some of them post them rite on the walls of thier offices.I think that something hands on,where you can see your hard work or money at work is a good way to start,you get a true sense of how your making a difference and it was easier for me to help out bigger charities where you dont always get to see for yourself what they are accomplishing once i had seen it on a smaller level.Good luck
