i live in southern california, am a senior in high school, and have a GPA of 3.00. can someone please give me a list of colleges that i can attend to get my degree without having to spend so much money. and what's the difference if i get my bachelors degree at harvard or at mount sac? i wanna be a cop, not a doctor so does it really matter where i got my education as long as i do good in my classes? would i have a better chance of getting employed if i went to a better school? thanks to all who answered.

  1. Choose a state (public) college.  It will not matter for employment which school you choose if your grades are good.

  2. Why not go to a community college first?  Despite popular opinion, community colleges are not just a continuation of high school.  The classes offered at community colleges are the same core classes that would be offered at the university and they are just as difficult.  However, they can be made easier to understand and do well in class since the class sizes are usually smaller, which means the instructor can answer more individual questions in class and can set away more time one on one during office hours.  Community college cost about 1/2 the price of regular in-state tuition at the 4 year colleges, and as long as you choose a community college that has a transfer agreement with the 4 year that you want to eventually attend, then your credits will transfer without any problems and you can enter the university as a junior and finish out just 2 more years and be granted your full Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice.  That's the most economical route to go if cost is a big concern.
