I want to get my belly pierced for my birthday. Need info to convince mom..?

I'm turning 16 in a lil over a month. I told my mom this is what for my gift.

She is against piercings besides in my ears, but she knows how much i want this.

She said she'll consider it if i give her information about how it is done exactly, and how to properly take care of it etc..

If you could give me any information or sites about this i would really appreciate it.

Well first of all you want to visit the place you will get the piercing. Make sure it is clean and that they dispose of the needles in a bio hazard container after they are done using them. Also make sure the place has good lighting, and that the piercer uses gloves and has a license. After you've checked out the place, make an appointment. What they will do is put you into a reclining chair, and sanitize your navel with either iodine or alcohol. They may or may not mark the spot to make sure you like it. Next they'll take a clamp and use that to clamp your skin. They will then take a hollow needle and pierce the skin, and then pass the belly button ring through. Make sure this is either surgical grade stainless steel or at least 18 karat gold. And you're done. As for taking care of it use either a solution they give you or ask them what you should use to clean it. It usually takes 4 months to a year to completely heal. Hope this helps. :).

They just sterilize your belly with alcohol or iodine solution, and then they get a sterile needle and poke you and you're done. its quick.. and you have to KEEP IT CLEAN after that. they sell stuff for you to clean it with, or they can tell you what to buy. And try not to bump it... so that it will heal better.

lots of girls have them too.. when i was in high school most  girls with a flat  stomach got one.. and lots of people were wearing them to the beach.. i mean the long dangly ones too. the are cute. if you get it done at a tattoo shop you have to have your mom there with you b/c you are under 17/18...

oops yes forgot to mention, they do mark the spot first before

piercing, and put you in a reclining chair, you have to be still, and they throw the needle in the biohazard container afterwards. It does cost alot!!! Mine was $55. some places may be higher or lower than mine.
