  1. Unless you put it in your question, we can't tell what country you are in. It is the most frustrating thing Yahoo does. It doesn't matter if you go into domestic Yahoo or one of the International Yahoos - UK, Australia, Canada, India . . . - all of the questions in English go into one big "pot". That's why some of us said "county courthouse" and some said "deed poll".

In my state in California you call the clerk at the county courthouse. You fill out a form and pay $320. You also take out a "Legal Notice" in a local newspaper for four weeks. That cost is in addition to the $320. If no one objects, you get your decree.

Every time you apply for a new passport, driver's license, etc you will need to mail in or show a notarized copy of the decree. If you have to mail one in and don't get it back, chalk up another $25 or so.

The procedure is the same in all counties in California, although the cost may vary. I suspect the procedure is the same in most states in the USA, although the cost and the length of time may vary.

  2. Depending on what state you live in it could vary from $250 to $1000

Look up your states record site and it should have a FAQ on there about fee's

  3. In AZ- I just checked on this for my daughter she wants to change her middle name-anyway- you can always call vital records for your state and confirm but in AZ it's $200 to see a judge and after the judge agrees to it and approves it you also have to pay a $15 fee to get it changed. I think it's ridiculously expensive but that's what they told me here.

  4. $ 350 to $1,500  or more  unless you are in  a  / or have a lawyer membership card   around  $350. to $500. call around to check   different lawyers  charge different prices.you will need your  b c  and  s s n card for a start.

    hope this helps

  5. I had a friend who used LegalZoom.com to change his name. Said it was very easy and efficient. Prices start at $139 (I'm guessing it varies by state).

  6. you can go to the court house and change it or get married

  7. i had the same question a while ago... but it seems like it takes nothing more than a change in life style... like changing your social security and medical records and after that your license will change and then sooner or later you'll be signing under your new name on everything and you won't be

    Pam Margera

    you'll be

    Pam Leblanc

  8. In the US I don't believe there is a charge. Go to your local social security office. That's where you have to do it. You will also need documentation on why you are changing your name (adoption papers, marriage license, witness protection LOL, etc.) Good luck!

  9. UK answer.

The cost of changing your name by deed poll is £40:00 now, it can be done at the register office and there is no need for a solicitor.
