I want to get pokemon diamond/pearl but should i just wait for pokemon platinum???

I always wanted a pokemon video game but couldn't cuz of my parentals ... well now is my time to shine! i want to get pokemon diamond or pokemon pearl but i wanted to kno if pokemon platinum was an add on or if i should wait for pokemon platinum instead of the others....

if pokemon platinum is indeed an add on...which is better (between diamon and pearl ) and why is it better

You can wait, but you will miss out on the other event Pokemon being released. You already missed Darkrai and Deoxys, if you wait any longer you will miss the Shaymin Event. Don't worry, I was in your same dilemma, but I decided I'd get Pokemon Pearl version and Platinum when it came out.

Platinum isn't an add on , it's an adjusted Storyline with new plot details. It also allows you to do things you cannot do in Pearl and Diamond.

Diamond And Pearl have their own differences. I got Pearl because I liked Glameow, and I like Palkia. Those two you can only get in Pearl. Some people say to get Diamond because "Diamonds are worth more" but it should be what you like about it. If you like Dialga more than Palkia, you should get Diamond. It's all based on what you like.

pokemon platinum is going to be a little bit different than diamond and pearl but it's more of in the line of having different character designs and a little bit different story. i think that the main legendary pokemon is going to not be palkia or dialga (which were the two legendary for pearl and diamond) and they're going to add another legendary pokemon but im not sure if it's an event only pokemon or not. im pretty sure though that the changes aren't major. hope this helped ^.^
