I want to get pregnant right after a miscarriage - is it safe?

I had a miscarriage exactly 1 week ago. We only knew we were pregnant for 3 days before miscarrying, we were just 5 weeks pregnant. I did not need a D&C. We were told by the Dr. that its better to wait for one period only so they can know how far along I am, but in reality the could figure it out later. But that it would be good to wait. Has anyone gotten pregnant right after a miscarriage before having a period? My husband and I have had unprotected s*x 2 times since the miscarriage, but I don't really think I am ovulating yet so I am pretty sure we aren't pregnant yet, but I would really like to be. Any advice?

  1. I would wait until at least one period if it were me just so I could feel like my body has "reset" so to speak.  And so you can have a few weeks to store up on some vitamins as your body may be a little depleted of important nutrients from miscarrying.

  2. After a chemical pregnancy it is safe to get pregnant straight away - if you had had a later miscarriage with a D&C then it would probably be better if you waited, as your hormones can be really imbalanced. But after a chemical, the hormones in your system aren't crazy yet, and will only take a few days to go back to normal and get out of your system. Lots and lots of women have chemical pregnancies without even knowing, so their is no danger of it, and your body returns to normal very quickly The only reason you would have been asked to wait is so that they doctor can know how far along you are (like you said), but this can be easily identified with an ultrasound if you do not know this. Good luck!! Xo

  3. Your cycle might be a bit screwed up after a chemical pregnancy (early miscarriage)  it usually straightens up after one or two cycles.

I had a miscarriage in September and we were pregnant again by the beginning of November.

  4. I had a miscarriage and had only known for about a week that I was pregnant.  I wasn't very far along either, about 5-6 weeks.  I also had no D & C.  It's been a while ago, but I do remember the doctor telling us to wait.

I'm not exactly how long he told us, I can't remember that, seems it was a couple/few months.  My miscarriage was in July that year, and I became pregnant in December.  I had a girl in September.

To be safe, you should wait like the doctor said.  You want what's best.

    Good luck..hang in there.

  5. My sister-in-law has, she miscarried and then found out 3 weeks later that she was about 2 1/2 weeks along!

She had a great pregnancy and gave birth to a healthly little boy!

Good luck and loads of baby dust to us all TTC
