  1. make a list of stuff you haven't used in 3-6 months and if you haven't touched it since then, then get rid of it.  you can have  a yard sale or call the salvation army to come and get it.  whatever you haven't worn by way of clothes in two months, I would get rid of.  get rid of all of the toys except what is the baby's favorites.  get rid of magazines and newspapers.  Just make category lists and tackle it like that one at a time....newspapers and magazines this week, baby clothes and toys next week, your clothes the following week,  etc.   good luck

  2. I would first have a yard sale. Price things reasonable, remembering the idea is to get rid of things. Anything that doesn't sell goes to Goodwill or Salvation Army.

  3. You are so right Renee ~ we ALL have too much stuff! I'm hoping you have a 1 BR (not just 1 room?) duplex.  But at any rate, with a baby in the mix I bet you are "drowning".

Is it possible you have a family member or friend who might "loan" a bit of attic/basement space for some storage of things not needed this season?  That could take some of the pressure off without tossing things you will need in 3 or 4 months.

As far as baby toys, pare them WAY down.  Bet he only pays attention to 2 or 3 of them anyway!

Craft Supplies:  with the baby, do you have time to do crafting right now???  Maybe that could be stored for when you have room to use it.

I recently went into a house I grew up in.  Was appalled at how teeny tiny the closets were!  I came back home to see walk-in closets all full, and it kind of made me sick!

So do it. . .just go for the essentials and you'll feel way better.

Enjoy your family, and make it easy on yourself.  Good luck!

  4. Check out the local freecycle.org (yahoo group) or local thrift store. You can give it away to someone who wants it.

  5. Oh, I totally understand how you feel!  When I married my husband, I already had a son and 9 months later a new daughter as well.  We were living in a teeny, tiny 2 bedroom, 750 square foot apartment and my husband is a packrat!!  I remember trying to clean and ending up bursting into tears cause I just didn't know what to do with all the stuff!

Start with one thing at a time.  Like the craft items.  Start by finding boxes (either plastic ones that you have to buy, or trying to find some cardboard boxes for free) and sorting the items into like categories into the boxes.  Once that's done, if you can't store them at someone else's house, then at least try to pile them up against a wall.  Try to get rid of some of it if you think you'll either never use it or may be able to buy it again someday.  Once that's done, take a break and then on another day you could pick something else such as clothing.

Once you have a lot of it sorted into boxes, often you will find the space to store those boxes so that even if you can still see them, at least you won't be seing "junk" everywhere you look.

Good luck and just remember -- it does get better.  Enjoy your baby as they don't stay little forever.  :-)

  6. Put it in your car or truck and take it to Goodwill.  Use the receipt they give you for a tax break on your taxes next year.  Lots of luck.

  7. go and do a garage sale from where you live, if you have a garage put them in there and put some advert flyers through your nieghbours doors and your friends too and tell them what time it starts and give example what you are selling .if you havent got a garage take it down to your charity shops like Oxfam, help the aged etc
