I want to get rid of my faxline but not the machine?

I rarely use it now..

What options do I have for INBOUND faxes if I combine to 1

line (voice)

Outbound I just make the fax -a phone extension and let it rip

right?

Just put in a telephone line Y-splitter. Route 1 to phone and the other to Fax.  

If you are not Faxing very often, just turn it off when not using or turn on when expecting a fax.

get rid of the fax and get distinctive ring. Its just a feature but its a whole seperate number and it will ring to your fax

Most Faxmachines can be set to monitor incoming calls and if these are fax transmissions they automatically take the incoming fax and turn off the extension phones. Look into the instruction book of your fax machine, Iv'e done it this way for the last 15 years. It works.
