i'm 14 and have been riding since i was 10. I currently i have a TTR 125L and don't have anywhere to ride right now. I don't have a truck to ride out to the track up the highway. What should i do, do i still have a chance to go pro, should i get a different bike, i've been looking at a RM 85L, RM-Z 250, YZ 85, and YZ 250F, i don't know which class to start in?

  1. ktm 105 im 13 i think that would be good for u                                             get a small trailer or look in mags. for small suff the goes on the hitchs                 http://www.bayoumx.com/forums/index.php thay will tell u a lot my name is  I WANNA RIDE  on there get on the chatroom when im on i will talk to u about racing

  2. I'm in the same position, although I've been riding since last year when i was 13, i have a 140cc 4-stroke but it's not a brand name motorbike, it's a crappy Chinese brand not a Japanese brand, i too don't have anywhere to ride, and i have a Ute but my dad is always to busy on the weekends to take me anywhere, i would buy a better bike if i could but i don't have the money, i also want to start motor cross, i don't even understand the classes. (I WOULD GET A YAMAHA YZ450F IF I COULD)

  3. hey I was in the same situation as you. Im 14 and ive been riding for 3 years and I had the DRZ 125L the suzuki version of your bike. I got the YZ 250F and loved it. At first i tried my dads yz250 the two stroke version it was really snappy and had a rougher power to it but I could handle it. I thought it would be a big jump up but it wasnt too bad. Make sure you get out on the track to practice before you do any racing obviously. Im now racing my 250f in the B class at my track its great fun so I would reccomend it. I also hear the Suzuki 250 is nice too but its less popular than the yamaha

  4. get a yz250f (if you can)

    and practice. and then race.

  5. Look for a 250 4stroke. YZF,CRF,RMZ,KXF 250's. you will outgrow a 85 to fast. Plus you ride the TTR125L, which is a 4 stroke. Your already comfortable riding a 4stroke, switching to a 2 stroke would be hard. you will start in the 125/250 class as a novice. Make sure you have all the gear. Helmet, chest protector, riding apperal, boots. if the track is not to far, push your bike or ride it up the side of the road. i'm 5'11 and 170lbs. there is a track 1/2 mile up the highway from me. as long as you keep practicing, and get to a place to ride or the track you'll do ok. good luck.

  6. i am 6'2" 160 and i have a CRF250R which is a great bike, if i am not wrong here and please correct me if i am, but there are multiple classes you could be in

    ::SR Mini (12-15 yrs) 66-85cc 2-stroke & 91-150cc 4-stroke::Beginner Mini (7-15 yrs) 66-112cc 2-stroke & 91-150cc 4-stroke::Supermini (9-15 yrs) 66-112cc 2-stroke & 91-150cc 4-stroke::Schoolboy (12-16 yrs) 100-144cc 2-stk & 126-250cc 4-stk & Supermini Big Wheel Bikes::

    are classes you are able to race in, since you are 5'9" i would reccomend the honda four stroke 150r or some 85 two stroke.

    those classes are just some from a race in my area (KY) idk if it is diffrent somewhere else

  7. Most people who become pro racers have been racing since they were 4 years old and if you have never raced it is a bit too early to even decide if you like the sport enough to even want to go pro.

    If you are serious about racing you would need a better bike as the ttr125 is a basic trail bike and not designed for motocross.  You don't say how big you are so it is hard to advise you of what bike and section you would be best to ride in as if you are only 5 ft 4 to 5ft6 you would be better off starting on either an 85cc or a crf150r.  If you are taller then you could try one of the 250F's

    As far as getting started you need to join a local club and get all the correct gear for racing, but before you race you should do a lot of practice days so you get used to having other bikes on your back wheel and passing you. You will have to talk to your parents about how you are going to get to the track.

    Go along to a few race days at the track you have in mind to join and watch the racing.  Speak to the club secretary or race secretary about what you need to do to join and race.  Make sure you learn all the rules of racing and safety before you race.

  8. It's great to have aspirations of being a pro, but if you never do so what. If you race, it should be because you love the sport, not for fame and fortune. It has been many years since I ran the 85 class, but I think 15 is the age limit so if you get an 85 you won't be able to race it long. Also at 5'9" even a big wheel 85 is going to be a little small. Try to get either of the 250F's if possible. Finding a way to the track is something I can't help you with, but I'm sure you can work out something.

  9. i would recommend the yzf 250 or a supped up 2-stroke racing 125 because it is hard to harness all that power going 2 the 2-stroke gets u used to the powerband of a bigger bike. just make sure that u get alot of practice in. also, if u havnt raced at all before it may take you 4-5 years to gather enough points to go pro that is if u finish in good places you know 12345 it also depends on if u race every weekend also if u don't it will take you even longer... my name is alec im 14 years old let me know if u hav any questions. i might go pro this summer in the 125cc class
