which lets you hold the and play with them or cuddle with them more?

does the winter white let you touch them? because they're small, do they get a big as a black bear hamster?

can you give me links to sites with cages(good or great ones in your opions) and best bedding toys and foods

Thanks oodles I want to imprese my mom on how much I know about hamsters and be responable

  1. all have to say about the cage is get pastic not wired. habitat OVO cage is awsome cage, easy to clean, not wired so the hamster will not chew you awake every night, and its round shape prevents "pee corners" that hamsters love to do but hard to clean.

  2. the only bit of advice i can give you about the type of hamster, is don't get a winter white, they are dwarf hamsters, they bite a lot.

http://www.superpetusa.com/index.html -this site has a lot of hamster cages, every hamster i have had has lived in the crittertrail ones, i recommend them

oh and as for the bedding, i don't reccommend cedar, i've heard it can cause lung problems in hamsters because of the dust, im not 100% sure on this though, might want to find out for sure

  3. Syrians (which is what a "teddy bear and black bear are") are larger, so they're easier to hold.

Don't get the ovo like a couple of other people said to get because they are way too small on their own for any type of hamster (dwarf or syrian).  Hamsters also need corners, even if its inconvenient for you to clean, so it should be a rectangular or square cage.  Most of the cages like crittertrails or habitrails are too small- hamsters need a lot of floor space... if you really like them, you'll need at least two connected.

A better idea is a 20 gallon tank (like fish have- they're about $30 at petsmart) and an even better idea is to make a bin cage from a storage bin... you can get a huge one from wal*mart for about $13 and drill holes in it for ventilation and/or cut windows in it and cover them with mesh.  Try googling "bin cage" and you should get tons of ideas.

  4. Teddys will let you hold them longer. They are better for first timers as they are easier to control. Only 1 per cage though because they are territorial.

Winter white are dwarves so they will never be as big as teddys. They change colour in the winter months which is why they are cool. They are freindlyer then most dwarves.

a good cage for dwarves from what I hear is http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js...

My sister used a Habitrail Safari for her Teddy and i used the habitrail safari for my dwarf. the safari is a nice big cage. The OVO is ment for Dwarves not Teddys.

Also Never use Pine/Cedar wood shavings. Use Carefresh or aspen. as Pine/Cedar cause respitory affections. Also make sure your hamster doesnt have Wet tail before you buy it. ( Hold your finger under its tail if its wet dont buy it. Alsodont buy any other hamsters from that bach as they will most likely Have it aswell).

    Hope this helps.

  5. I recommend crittertrail cages, especially if you buy extra tubes and stuff and attach more than one cage together. My hamsters have 4 of them all connected together, they have fun. The coolest one, in my opinion, is the crittertrail revolution. My hamster love to get in it together or alone and have the most fun there. if you get this one though, you should definitely get another regular cage to attach to it, so they will have a comfortable place to sleep and stuff. You should also get them a run-about ball, they love those too.
