I am having a spring clear out and rather than throw my stuff away, I would rather recycle it by giving the items to a good home such as orphanages either in the UK or abroad

  1. Contact your local child welfare authorities. They'll be able to tell you where and how to donate. Good for you and thanks for your efforts.

  2. there is also the national guard that take  stuff like this for the family's over seas  and it shows your support for the troops

  3. Please donate your Teddy bears and other dolls to your local fire and/or police department.  They can use them to comfort children in emergency situations.  You might donate the other items to good will.  They will sell them and use the profits to help the less fortunate.

I think that this is a GREAT idea!!!

  4. Make sure everything is in good repair and clean.

I don't have advice about the UK, but I know that here in the US, battered women's shelters need things like that, since most of the women who arrive there with children have left home on very short notice and without the ability to bring much with them.  We can contact the local police department.  They won't give us the location of the shelter, but they will often collect things at the station and take them to the shelter.  I often donated outgrown toys, and they LOVED when I sent unused diapers when my son was potty-trained.

  5. contact local churches or salvation army
