Login into your email account and at the top near your name click on  the "switch back" link

You can do a system restore to get your older version back, this is the easiest way.  Otherwise, go to the homepage, make sure older versions ARE available, then uninstall the current version you have and reinstall the one you want.  

Note:  it's always a good idea to save (back up) the old version b4 you download a newer version of it so you don't have the worry and hassle of uninstalling, reinstalling or having to hunt down the version you want back.

If you mean Yahoo! Messenger...

Uninstall the current version of Yahoo! Messenger by going to Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove old programs.
