I currently have a dark auburn brown color (dyed) which is around a 3 on the color scale. Naturally though I am like a 6 but it is more of an ash color. I would like to go to about a 6 but in a true blonde color. I know that box dye is not the best for your hair but I am living on a college budget and right now it is impossible for me to go to a salon (I used to go to a cosmetology school where they would do it really cheap...but it closed : ( ). I know it doesn't usually turn out if you do it all at once but if I gradually go lighter like one shade every two weeks to a month will it work? I am in no hurry but would like for my hair to be closer to it's natural color. Also, I would like to put dark highlights in it when I get it blonde...is there a good way to do highlights with box color that doesn't include buying the highlights kit from the store because I don't think they usually turn out. I know how they do the highlight process in salons but I wasn't sure if this would work for box dye.Any help is greatly appreciated!
