I want to go preferably mid August and I have been on the Midland Mainline website but I really can't work out a price! Obviously I want the cheapest prices and I'm not bothered about time but it has to be in the morning (as early as you like)! Please help me someone! Thanks.

  1. Go to www.trainline.co.uk and fill in your departing station, arrival station, date and times. It will give you a list of prices and alternative times. You can buy the tickets online and they will be posted out to you. You may not get an underground ticket tho if you're not actually going through london. It may also be cheaper to get two single tickets. The website is really easy to use and I use it all the time with no problems. However if you change your mind you will have to pay a £10 fee once its been booked. Good luck!

  2. try virgin.com

  3. 08457 48 49 50

The above is the number for National Rail Enquiries.  Call them and they will tell you how much.

The earlier you ring, the cheaper the ticket.

    Apex tickets are cheapest.

  4. The time you took to get this question up surely you could have checked thetrainline.com.

  5. If you want to travel to London in the morning, you are not going to get a cheap price.  This is when the rail operators charge the highest fares as this is when the demand for seats is highest. (Similarly ex - London in the early evening)

Travelling to London in the afternoon, back in the morning or late night is the cheapest option.

Sometimes the difference in fares is big enough to justify travelling the previous day and staying overnight!

And beware - some types of cheap ticket are only valid on the train that they have been booked for - miss your train and your ticket is not valid on the next service - or any other.

  6. If you had no luck on the MML site use National Rail Enquires.

For 15Th August have got a best fare of £34 return depart Nottingham 0828 arrive 1019 and return at 2055 arrive back in Nottingham at 2239.

  7. Just find out the date that you are traveling and then go to Nottingham Train Station and ask for the cheapest ticket for that date. You might find that you will have to travel after 9:30am & that you will not be able to return at the On Peak times, but its a nice & symple way of sorting out your question.

  8. the train driver will know the way.

  9. This is the best site that I use:

    http://ojp1.nationalrail.co.uk/en/pj/jp

Should give you all the info you need.

  10. go to the train station lol

  11. well its not gonna cost more than £50. so just take about £70 with you on the day and just go to your train station and get a train to euston then get the tube about in london to the part you want to go to

  12. Type in train timetables and it will give you all the times and the cheapest ticket if you book online and two months ahead and you have both dead grandparents with you. Sorry, only joking about the last bit.

The website is very slooooowww, it takes an age to load. I find it quicker to use it around midnight or even later.

    I complained, they didn't reply.

  13. Go to your nearst mainline station and enquire there. You could be lucky and get an MML advance fare for as little as £30 return, but you may have to settle for a Saver return which would be more in the £50 mark.

Ask the staff for a print out of the times.

All you need is what day you wish to travel and latest time into London and what time (if needed) you wish to return.

  14. Go and ask at Midland Train Station on Carrington Street near the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre, I'm sure they'll be able to help you.
