My parents have enough money, technically, but it would be a strain as it is very expensive with the present UK-US exchange rate. I am looking to enter at 6th form, so it's not as if I'm too young to live away from home.

  1. I'm always a bit taken aback to hear what kids think their parents can afford. With college coming for you and a sister already there, unless your parents have amazing jobs, that's an expense they might not want to take on. I've seen many kds go to boarding school and then have to choose cheap colleges because their parents couldn't handle anymore. So take the mature approach and sit down with them and discuss what they an afford for your education going forward.

  2. Well tell them some good reasons you should go there. Do you have any family there? They can check up on you and definitely give your parents more comfort and perhaps convince them.

In that case, if your parents would let you go for it. Make sure your parents actually don't mind paying, especially since you still have university afterwards. Your only other problem is transportation. Perhaps the boarding house?
