  2. I think you got to spend at least $200 per night to get air conditioning. No just kidding. Try Lonely Planet, either the book or the website. And you can try also Craigslist.com and Adpost.com

In tourist traps they will try to gouge you for over $50 per night. Just tell the all you got to spend is $20 or $10 per night for X number of nights. They'll take it if you got US dollars. And get a receipt that says "Paid" and the number of nights you wanted.

  3. Dear simply logon to http://www.travelocity.com

You can find very cheap hotel rates (PER NIGHT)

Beijing Wangfujing Dawan Hotel - USD23.00

    JinJiang Inn - Beijing - USD28.00

    Botai Hotel - USD33.00

Beijing Mei Yuan Hotel - USD33.00

Sha Tan Business Hotel - USD51.00

    and many more

On the website didn't provide the hotel in beijing, but you could send them an e-mail to book it. And you could also consider about the tours that provide by this travel agency. Hope you will have a good journey in China...

  6. It could be hard to find a Mid-Range for USD70 and near Forbidden City.  However you could try slightly lower range (see below link).

  7. Jin Jiang Inn

  8. your best bet for location is close to wangfujing street (walking street) it is really close to tianenmen square forbidden city, and wangfujing is the walking street with plenty of places to eat and even night markets.

i was there a few weeks ago and stayed at a hotel near temple of heaven which is too far from everywhere else, so we ended up moving into the wangfujing youth hostel, which has an awesome location and youth hostels in china are much nicer than western countries, they tend be as nice as budget hotels there and its not all young people out to party as it is an affordable but clean and nice way to travel in china compared to other countries

here is a link of hotels in this area:
