I want to go to Belize or the Caymen Islands. I am adventurous any suggestions on where to go or stay?

Although my husband and I are adventurous we both love the beach and love night life we want to be able to roam the island as well.

You cannot judge Belize by a one day stop on a cruise ship. The ship drops you off in the city, yet the majority of the country is spectacular.  That is like coming to the United States, say the Bronx or Harlem, then judging the entire country or even state by what you see there.

There are Mayan Ruins, caves, hiking, rafting trips, etc. If you can split your time between the beach, Ambergris Caye, and then in the jungle/rainforest you will have quite an adventure. Check out Chan Chich Lodge, Chaa Creek or slightly less expensive but gorgeous Five Sisters Lodge.

Grand Cayman is beautiful but much more touristy. Your adventures will be limited to diving and short hikes.

I have never been to the Caymen Islands, however, I went to Belize last December.  I was on a cruise and it was one of the stops.  One of the things the cruise line told us was, "Don't go past the gated area."  There's a gated area of shops (and they are CHEAP t-shirt shops and other junk).  We did end up going to the Miyan (sp?) Ruins while we were there so we got to see more of Belize, outside the gated area, and the area was incredibly POOR.  I didn't see ANY decent places to stay and their "downtown" area was as poor as it gets, with shoeless bums and everything!  I wouldn't suggest Belize!  I told my husband I never wanted to go back there!

Wow.  The 2 are so different.  Took a cruise that stopped in Belize did the zipline tour and the trip there was eye opening.  Talk about a poor country.  That same cruise stopped in Caymen I went everywhere snorkeling with the stingrays h**l, turtle farm rum factory etc, very nice.  from that trip alone I will never go back to Belize.  The prettiest beach I have seen is Jamaica and Punta Cana My next trip will be Margarita island venezuela or Roatan I love beaches.  Fantasy Island roatan suppose to be one of the best places for diving and snorkeling http://redhotescapes.com/
