I want to go to Biola but I'm scared I'll be missing out?

Me and my parents both love Biola University. We went to go visit it and talk to the admissions counselor, and it seemed great.

The campus was pretty enough, nothing amazing, the dorms were really nice, and it seemed to have a good atmosphere.

I've gone to a Christian school for most of my life, and now that college is coming up, I want a chance to experience completely new things and put myself entirely out of my comfort zone.

I just feel like Biola is safe. That's not a bad thing, but it's not exciting either.

What do you think? Can you tell me anything about Biola? I really am committed to being a Christian and keeping a good walk with God throughout my college years, so do you think I'm freaking out for nothing?

Can Biola still be a school where I'll experience everything I'll need to to grow and become a well-rounded person?

  1. A college decision has to be about more than just the exciting experiences you have. I had a tough time finding something that had everything i wanted but everyone has their perfect school. I don't know anything about Biola but I do know a lot of christian schools do have exciting things going on, and sometimes just as crazy parties and drinking problems as any college. But there are also people who believe the same things you do and are there for good reasons as well. Be prepared for both if you decide to go there. If you feel like you're missing something, find what you're looking for and reach for that. If you love Biola and you think you can experience college to the full extent you want to then go for that. College is totally different so even going to a place that seems safe will be totally new and out of your comfort zone. Especially if you don't live nearby or you have never lived away from home. Because that will be a whole new experience in itself. If your faith is more important than anything, go with the private school. But, you can have a totally great relationship with God at the biggest party school too. I kinda know where you're coming from. I went to Catholic school from preschool till 8th grade and i went to a huge public school for high school and in my high school years when my faith was challenged more, i ended up being closer to God then. So you can have faith and still enjoy life too. But if you love Biola for what it has for you, then by all means make it work.

So my best advice is to just pray about it and go where God leads you. Good luck!
