In 2006 I was in China and I stopped by one of the dental places, they told me the cost would be 3000 RMB (I think) or somewhere less than $600 mark to get them. (Top & bottom teeth). Now I am in U.S. and they cost $6000 !!! (Top & bottom teeth). Would it be possible to get braces in China and come back to U.S. to get them adjusted every 6 weeks? Will it cost less? Ticket is about 1200$ round trip. So $2000 for braces plane, then how much is it to get them fitted each time? I actually only need them on top. ($2800 estimate in US) Will I save money by going there? Thanks.

  1. If I were a dentist, I would not want to adjust someone else's work

I would be liable if their job was not to my caliber of experience

    ********************************

I would only adjust them if I put them on

    ******

    stay home

  2. ur RETARTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... loser

  3. A dentist would be stupid to interrupt your treatment.  You would need to STAY in China the entire time you had braces for each adjustment... that means living expenses (food, housing, etc.) for up to four years.  Keep in mind that it be be EXTREMELY difficult to find decent living arrangements for under $1,000 USD a month, and thats not even considering food.  So lets plug in the figures...

$1,200 (Flight, your numbers, not mine)

$600 (Braces, your numbers, not mine)

    --------

    $1,800 -- service

$1,000 (Monthly rent, my numbers, not yours)

$500 (Monthly food budget, my numbers, not yours)

    --------

    $1,500 -- living

    Living X 12 = $18,000 (Cost per year)

    1 Year -- $19,800 (service + living)

On average, braces are worn for three years.  So you're looking at $55,800.

  4. do you have insurance? if so that may cut the cost in half. I would first go to an american othro for consultation they will tell you how much it will cost and if you need tops and bottoms and the time it will take.  also you could ask them about the china thing.

  5. I think staying home will help you save money in the long run :)  Do whatever you think is best though.  Was the quality good for the braces in China?  Do you know why they are so cheap rather than the ones here?
