I am a senior in high school and I have applied to Arizona State University. However, where I would really like to go study is in Japan. It has always been my dream to study there and hopefully start my new life there but there is a problem. I can't speak Japanese except for a few phrases. I know that if I go to Japan, however, I will get used to the language after hearing it being spoken by almost everyone. But my problem is can I go there without knowing Japanese first? Is there any university (a good one) that I could go to that does not require you to be fluent in Japanese (but allows you to learn)? I'd appreciate the help.

  1. Unless you like Sushi, go to Arizona.

  2. Try one of those Japanese language schools. You get to study Japanese language in Japan full time for 1-2 years depending on the program, then you'll be able to speak, read and write enough to study in Japanese Uni.

You need at least JLPT level 4 to be accepted, it's easy to get to that level if you study for a few months.
