  1. i have been to Rio DE janeiro, Brazil  on vacation it was great! they speak Portuguese and many speak English. this place has adventure, beautiful scenery, drama, and danger.not to expensive, many shop owners rent out very clean affordable apartment,Internet cafe  and cam bios(currency exchanges)are on every few blocks read a guide/books,get a passport and Brazilian visa (government stamp saying youre can enter country )at there embassy before you go! i am African American ,have wonderfully dark skin .please stay away from drugs be cautious but not paranoid, wear no flashy jewelry, heed other American travelers advise and you will have a great time experiencing the culture, food, sights&sounds of brazil.

  2. There's alot of "darker people" in the east side of South America, you could go there if you're too afraid, but I wouldn't worry, I'm from Venezuela and there's no racism.

The only country I would stay away from is Argentina, they're fine people, but need more time to learn how to accept other races and cultures.

  3. Except for Argentina and Chile ( maybe Paraguay and Bolivia too), the rest of latin american countries have black populations.

you'll find racism anywhere in the world, it doesn't matter what color is your skin. Or you think racism is extinct in USA??

Just enjoy your vacations. People in latin america are open and friendly. Don't pay attention to the "scary" stories.

  4. I recently came back from a mission trip in guatemala, el salvador and hounduras. The people there are so nice. I just got to tell you that if you are the type of person that dresses alll nice and have all this bling bling around you most likely ppl might think your rich and you know what might be some of the possibilites that might happen.  Ppl will not be racist in these parts. There are alot of black people in honduras and ppl there are so nice to darker skinned people. Same as in guatemala and el salvador. If you happen to go to el salvador you might not notice alot of dark skinned people and that is because in the 1930's there was a president that didn't allow darker skinned immigrants to live in el salvador but then that law was abolished after and now there are quite a few but not as much as in honduras. Trust me as long as you don't show off then you shouldn't have any problems. It's a good place to go.
