  1. MAYBE THIS IS TRUE. SO , YOU SHOULD BE CAREFUL. DON'T BE AFRAID.

  2. It is true. Like in many touristy places, you can be robbed, but just be a little careful and you should be fine.

Madrid is safer than MANY "safe" cities in the US.

Enjoy and DO GO to Madrid, you'll like it!

  3. I just went to Madrid 2 weeks ago and was told the same thing.  I was just aware of my possessions (cash, camera, purse) at all times as in any large city.  It was fine.  The only time that some people tend to forget to watch their stuff is when they are eating in an outdoors restaurants and I have seen someone grab a lady's camera off the table and run with it.  Go, have fun and don't worry about that!  It can happen anywhere.

  4. There are robberies on the street in most large cities. Your question is like asking if there are robberies in New York or Los Angeles. As far as I know, Madrid doesn't have a runaway crime problem to the extent that if you were to check with the State department you would get a warning about being robbed on the streets. If you want to go, then go ahead and go. Just use common sense and don't walk alone in areas that look like slums at night and you should be fine. As for me, I wouldn't be afraid because I trust in the Lord!

Psalms 34:7  The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

  5. I used to live in Madrid and loved every second of it.  Think of Madrid like New York.  It is a big city and should be approached as one.  Act like a local and you wont have any problems.  Act like a dumb tourist and you will treated like one.  Don't flash lots of cash around.  Don't walk around with a camera dangling on your neck, etc...  I find a small camera I fit into my pocket or daypack is great.  Use ATMs in lit areas.  Take taxis, subways and buses at night when going through sketchy areas.  Honestly, like NY or any other city - as a tourist, are you planning on visiting bad parts of town anyway?  Have fun, Madrid is one of my favorite cities in the world.  Although Barcelona is also wonderful in its own way, if you want a truely Spanish experience, Madrid is the way to go.

  6. You need to use common sence.  Stay in lighted areas and where there are other people.  Madrid is wonderful!

  7. I think that you can get robbed anywhere, just be careful.

  8. yap, the almost all the cities in europe got lots robberies( except germany - it is quite safe there). they target especially tourist.

go to www.virtualtourist.com and read the review and tourist trap before go there

my fren was scam by a police (hewas stupid)ofcourse the fake one, the police said u cannot take pic here and u have to pay fine 0 euro and my friend paid it ...

  9. I live in New York City.  I have neer been robbed there.  I have been to Rome, Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Florence, Venice Milan, London...never been robbed in any of those places.  Yet I am sure people get robbed in all of those places every day.

If you are careful and stay out of bad areas you should be pretty safe in any of those cities.

  10. There's robberies everywhere. Well there's "gypsies" there (that's what they call them) and they're known for a lot of crime but I'm sure it's no worse than say New York. It's not like you're gonna step outside and 20 people are gonna jump on you.

  11. They rob people everywhere..your point?
