  1. I agree with the above answer. If you want to play at a certain school, the best way to get looked at is to go to that school's camp.

Also, Penn St. is one of the best three women's volleyball teams in the country. Thanks to their head coach Russ Rose. Great guy too. Can't go wrong with this coach.

As for Maryland, they just got a new coach, coming over from Dayton. And from what I understand he is one of the "up and comers" of volleyball coaching. I would think this would be a great camp as well.

My choice would be to go to penn st. But one must factor in a few things such as location, cost, and most importantly where you would want to play your college volleyball.

  2. Let me make it a little more "straight" :)

Coaches are supposed to pay their visit to your gym or games to watch you play and decide whether they would want to recruit you, but then they got the idea to offer camps so that YOU pay your trip and pay them to watch you at their facilities... and of course you will learn something from them.

So if you think your academic records prove that you should go to Penn State, and you really want to go, you go to Penn camp; if Maryland is your dream land, and is definitely where you want to have your undergraduate study, go to the Maryland camp.

  3. I t depends on where you want to go after High School.

Russ Rose runs some great camps out of Penn State and Penn State is consistently in the top ten in NCAA Division 1 women's volleyball rankings. If I had a choice, I would go with Penn. But then I'm from Pa. originally so I might be a little biased. I haven't heard that much out of Maryland though.

How much different are the prices? If Penn State offers a camp for less than $200 difference, I'd go there, even if I had to save money for a long time. I just can't say enough good things about Russ Rose, I've met him a few times and he really knows volleyball and how to run a successful camp.
