I would love to go to college in alaska.My parents will pay for me to go to college but only for in state colleges.Would it be possible to go to college in alaska without their help?

Ask your folks if they will give you money for what they would be spending at an in state college and see if they would let you make up the difference.  Depending on how expensive the school is, if you are awarded scholarships, take out federal student loans, and get a work study job, you might be able to.


  2. There is the University of Alaska system with campuses in Fairbanks (UAF), Anchorage (UAA), and Juneau(UAS), and there is Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage.

    The University of Alaska schools are like most state universities and offer a broad variety of degrees and vocational programs.

    Alaska Pacific University is a private, liberal arts school, with a lot of emphasis on environmental studies and outdoor education. I heard once it was rated top ten in the country for something or another. APU is significantly more expensive than the UA schools.The University of Alaska schools are very affordable and offer a lot in the way of financial aid.

    You can get a good education at any of these schools.

    Visit AK before you decide. Its an amazing place, but its not for everybody.
