I work 50 hours a week right now and I make decent money for where I live. I'm 24 and never been to college. I hate sales and I want to go back to school to make a career for myself. Problem is, it's hard to leave this job and I don't want to disappoint my family by quitting. Also I need to do something I wont be in school for more than 4 years and still gain wages and enjoy what i do. I was thinking about dropping down to part time and going to school, but I don't know what to take in school, And i don't know if I should lower my hours and take the chance of losing the job. I like sports and have been looking into either athletic training or maybe X-ray tech. Business and criminal justice were my other choices. Any advice would be awesome.

  1. Well to become an X-ray tech after completing your prerequisite you will have to do clinical; that is work 8 hours for free as it is part of the program. I would suggest that you major in business administration as it is a 4 year program. You can go to college full-time while working full time; most working adults do. In your case, I would recommend considering taking online classes. Look into American Intercontinental University Online as they have great degree programs. You will be finish with an associate and bachelors degree all within two years, because the courses are accelerated. If you want more information you can go to their website at: http://www.aiuonline.edu/

    Have a great day!

  2. sign up for classes on a part time basis at a local community college. You might be able to take 8AM classes and shift your work schedule a bit, or take some at night, or even on the weekends.

I know of many part time students who work fulltime (plus overtime) jobs, have a family, and still go to college. It is a sacrifice, and your family will miss having you there, and have to readjust to your study schedule, but it IS possible!
