I originally an american citizen, but my mom isn't. When I was younger i lived in Canada for a couple of years and i went to school there. Now I'm 18yrs old, and i want to attend a college in Canada. now the problem is that when i was going to Canada, my mom lied and changed my name, so i have a different name in Canada. I want to change my name back, but when i transfer all my american high school credits, will they not accept it if i have a different name, and what are the concequences for my mother?

  1. Look if your mother had legal means of changing your name you shouldn't have much of a problem changing it back.

As far as your credits are concerned...if you could you should inform your high school about your name change conduct and ask them if they could trasfer  your credits to your present name.

    Best of luck with college,

    Ritika

  2. If your name is legally changed then you have to use your current name.

If you want to change your name you have to do it legally.  You would just need to produce a notarized document that says that the older name and your changed name are one and the same person when you submit your tanscripts form US high school.
