I want to go to public school but I'm not sure how to explain it to my family?

My Mother's side of the family wants me to go back to public school. My Father's side of the family wants me to stay in private school. I have been in public school all my life and I loved it there. Then I had to try private school and it sucked because most the people there knew nothing about sports and the real world, there was mostly just preppy kids who had no respect towards other people. I went to private school in 5th and 6th grade. 5th grade was okay, but when I got to sixth I was like I'm totally missing out, people there are mean, they all think there better than everyone else, etc.

All right so 7th Grade is coming up and I won't to go to public school, but my Father's side of the family is freaking out! They say, "you cant get into a good college from public school". And they expect me to believe that?! I mean I get A's and B's at a private school and I always got good grades in public school and they say I cant get into a good college from public school. Anyways I need some serious help here. Can someone please tell me what to say to them? By the way my Mom and my Dad are separated and I live with my Mom.

see if you can have a family meeting and let them know how you really feel and the pressures of being in private school vs public school and see if they would consider some changes in your education.

if you feel like your being left out then tell your family immediately

you will end up in a state of depression. i don't know how private schools are but i think its harder to get into a good school, because there are so many smart people. you'll probably have a better chance in public.

Here's what you say to them.

Ask them to sit down.

Then tell them your plans slowly so they comprehend.

Tell them how you feel.

Then tell them to think about it for the next few days.

I would ask your mom and her family to get in on the act. Say that you do want to go back to public school, and maybe ask her to tell your dad for you. If she says no at least ask her for her help. And you can get into a good college if you go to public school. My mom went to public school all her life and for college she went to the University of Texas, (We live in Texas), and she now has a doctorate in science education.  I'm going into 7th grade too.

It's absolutely not true that you can't get into a good college from public school.My uncle went to the same public school as me,gained 5 As & is now living the high life...and he sent his kids ro private school..did they do any better than they would have at a public school?i dont think so...they're off to uni,and i soon will be also with my public school grades :)

i think you just need to tell them that although you know they are just trying to help,and do what is best for you,you feel you can get just as good grades at public school,& you're old and mature enough now to make the final decision.
